Biography

Paige Gullifer is a writer, musicologist and classical saxophonist from Cobram, Australia. She is currently completing her Master of Musicology at University College Dublin under a Global Excellence Scholarship. Her research is within the field of ecomusicology, examining the relationship between music, the climate crisis, and the anthropocene.

In 2023 she completed her Bachelor of Music (Saxophone Performance) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, with First Class Honours. Paige has been twice awarded the Henderson Bequest, and was a receipient of the Conservatorium Mobility Scholarship, which have enabled her to participate in several writing and music programs in the United States, including a winter intensive at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

Paige is the soprano saxophonist in the Andromeda Sax Quartet, and enjoys regular performances with the ensemble, with highlights including the European University of Saxophone, Gap, France, and Dots and Loops’ Brisbane-based Playback Festival. In 2025, Andromeda are the Australian Festival of Chamber Music's Pathways Ensemble, following their feature as Winterschool artists in 2024. Paige has also appeared with the Australian Youth Orchestra, Sydney Youth Orchestras, and the NSW Police Band. In addition to her performance career, Paige is an enthusiastic pedagogue, and former saxophone tutor at Santa Sabina College, Sydney.

Paige is a regular program note and copywriter for the Adelaide and Queensland Symphony Orchestras. She has also been published in Limelight and New York Public Radio’s New Sounds, reporting on the Bang on a Can Summer Festival in North Adams, Massachusetts, where she completed a media fellowship. Paige also regularly presents pre-concert talks for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and has enjoyed collaborating with Australian ensembles and composers, writing liner notes, performing talks, and producing program material. Accessibility and thoughtful, evocative music imagery lie at the heart of her communications.
